Digital Photographic Practice. Ex.12. Managing Tone.

Exercise 12. Managing Tone.
It was surprisingly more difficult than anticipated
to find an interesting but flat image. It seemed
obvious that whatever the image, it would
exclude the sky. After several attempts
the bracket mushroom seemed to be the best.

JPG version.
Using 'Levels' adjusted B and W points.
Black to 5 and White to 220 before clipping
occurred. Used 'Curves' to increase contrast
a little. Tried Hue and Saturation. A slight
desaturation was applied.

Raw Version. (Converted to JPG)
Temperature as shot was satisfactory.
Variations in exposure produced no
improvement.
'Black' to -5 before clipping.
Increased contrast to 25%.
Highlights were just under clipping.
